Consolidate customer account

Where a person/s have multiple accounts with Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW), they may be eligible to combine their services into one consolidated Customer Account paying only one Customer Fee.

Before you start

To be able to group properties under a Consolidated Customer Account the properties must be related properties or the owners of the properties must be related parties.

  • Related properties are properties used together as a common enterprise with the purpose of achieving economic advantage or profit.
  • Related parties are persons operating collectively as a joint venture, partnership or otherwise who own or occupy the properties for the shared purpose of mutual economic gain or profit, which by this application are sought to be grouped together. A related party may be a natural person, company or a trustee of a trust.

Other important notes

  • All property owners/directors must sign the application form to set up a consolidated Customer Account.
  • All property owners will be listed on the Consolidated Customer Account and jointly take responsibility for all charges on every property associated with the Consolidated Customer Account.
  • All property owners associated with the Consolidated Customer Account acknowledge that any action that GMW takes in relation to non-payment will be taken against them all jointly in accordance with our customer charter.
  • Upon approval of any application to change the structure (e.g. subdivide or amalgamate) of a property the property will remain associated with the Consolidated Customer Account until change of ownership has occurred.
  • Upon sale of any property grouped under a Consolidated Customer Account the property is automatically removed from the Consolidated Customer Account and a new application would be required to add this property to a Consolidated Customer Account.
  • Properties will not be automatically joined to a Consolidated Customer Account upon purchase / issue, customers will be required to complete a new application.
  • The property owner’s of a property under a Consolidated Customer Account can choose to opt out of the Consolidated Customer Account arrangement at any time by submitting an application to GMW. If the application is lodged after 1 July and the account has not been paid, a customer fee will be raised on the individual property/accounts that have been removed from the Consolidated Customer Account.
  • Property owners can opt-in to having properties included under a Consolidated Customer Account. If the application is lodged between 1 July and 30 September, the customer fees on the individual property/accounts will be removed and one Customer Fee will be raised on the Consolidated Customer Account.
  • If the application is lodged between 1 October and 30 June, GMW will not waive any customer fees and the customer will be charged appropriately the following year.
  • Upon opting out of a Consolidated Customer Account arrangement, any outstanding charges that relate to the property/ies (or a portion of the outstanding rates) being removed will move with them.
  • Payments made under a Consolidated Customer Account arrangement will be apportioned in the following order: 1. Legal costs owing, if any 2. Customer Fee 3. Interest owing, if any 4. Arrears owing, if any 5. Current rates/charges – divided evenly across all charges
  • Non–payment, stop supply and debt collection will affect all child properties associated with the Consolidated Customer Account. 
    When a Refund is required all Owners must sign the Refund Request Form.

Please note that if more than 6 signatures are required per group (e.g. Owners, Licensees, Sellers, Buyers, Transferees) please contact GMW to request an offline form.

Please note that all communication related to this form will be directed to the Applicant or Lodging Party.

The Applicant is the person who is submitting the application to GMW, they are the main contact for that form submission and are responsible for the information being submitted and the coordination of e-signatures and payment of the application fee.

The Applicant may be a lodging party/ solicitor/ conveyancer/ water broker but can also be a new or existing customer submitting their own application form as  the seller/buyer or licensee.

If the property transferring includes a general place of take and/or extraction share, this will be included on the application form

Applying as a company

Please note when applying as  a company:

  • The form must be signed by those persons duly authorised to sign on behalf of the company in accordance with section 127(1) of the Corporations Act 2001; two directors, alternatively one director and one secretary, unless there is a sole director and secretary of the company.
  • A current (less than 12 months old) copy of an ASIC Company Search listing all directors and/or office bearers must be provided.

  • Contacting your solicitor or legal advisor to conduct the search on your behalf (fees may apply)
  • Requesting that GMW complete the searches on your behalf (fees apply)
